My first OLED TV

I really wanted to love this television and luckily I do. This is an upgrade from a 49 inch that is 5 years old so I am losing an inch. My previous television had very poor sound and I therefore used a 2.1 soundbar which provided great sound and especially bass. I was intrigued therefore whether I would be able to use the television sound now instead of the soundbar. The sound from this television is very impressive, however it doesn't provide the same levels of bass as the soundbar. However after adjusting the bass frequencies in the QE in the settings I am happy with the sound and have stopped using the sound bar. My opinion on this is as follows. If you haven't been using a soundbar then you won't need one now. If you have been using a soundbar because the sound from your television is poor and you are not worried about having cinematic sound, then the sound from the television will likely suffice. If however you added a soundbar to give you cinematic sound then you are still going to require a soundbar because as good as the sound is, it won't be as good as you are used to. I didn't think that OLED was going to make much of difference to my full array television, but I was very wrong. The picture quality is stunning and the colours incredible out the box without changing any settings. The interface is nice and has much less lag than my previous android television. Also the remote feels good quality. Overall I am very happy with the television as it has simplified my setup without the need for a soundbar. Because of this the sound and picture are now always in sync which was a problem that I had with a separate soundbar.

Frustrating tv

I purchased this tv early December and after spending quite a bit of time adjusting the picture settings to my preference I was pleased with the picture quality that was until I started to watch live sport mainly football this is when the tv becomes frustrating after about 2 minutes at normal good picture quality the brightness automatically reduces to a level that really is unacceptable the only way to get it it back to a normal level is to go back into picture settings and then come out without adjusting anything this bring things back to normal for another 2 mins then same again obviously this not acceptable having tried a soft reset and full factory reset the problem still exists and so regrettably until a solution is found I wouldn’t recommend buying this tv.

Bought TV from Currys two weeks ago and I was told that it could pause live TV After many conversations with Curry's and finally one with Sony I was told that it could not I would strongly recommend that Sony improve their quality control of their retailers so that sales staff are adequately knowledgeable

Been over a year since I purchased this TV and I could not be happier with it. Incredible picture quality, sound is fantastic and adjustable in many ways. Screen is as slim as it could be and no wasted space with visible speakers. Personally I can not see any possible reason to add a sound bar unless you want to sit in another room. Would I buy this machine again, yes I certainly would.

Picture excessively dark when streaming.

I have owned this Sony TV for approximately 1 month. Whilst I am happy with the normal picture I’m finding that when streaming content from Netflix, Amazon or iPlayer etc. the picture is often overly dark. Indeed, in some scenes I can barely see what’s happening and no amount of fiddling with the picture settings makes any difference. I have frequently heard the various streaming services blamed for this issue but how is it that the picture on my 13 year old Panasonic which I use in my bedroom is much clearer. In fact content I’ve previously watched satisfactorily on my old TV is unwatchable on this Sony. I am deeply disappointed with my purchase, it was not a cheap television and if I had known it had this problem I would never have bought it. Someone needs to sort this out.

Bouth this TV a few weeks ago and like all the functions, sound quality and the design. Only downside at the moment is we were told to connect a USB HDD hard drive for recording TV programmes. I bought a new USB HDD drive and have spent hours trying to get it to work. Its formatted but still says its not connected....

I’ve had the tv for two weeks now. Fantastic picture and sound. Watching wildlife programmes is an utter pleasure. It is so well built. Excellent quality. Just remember that most programmes will look the same as on your previous tv. You’ll only notice the difference when viewing in HD or UHD. I would recommend this tv to anyone but remember it’s three times tge price of a UHD tv so tge choice is yours. Definitely go to Curry’s and look at the OLED screen next to UHD.

Most OLED TV's have great pictures, due to OLED display technology being the ultimate solution. However, sound is often compromised by the lack of volume in such thin display screens. What sets this TV apart from the rest is the innovative use of the screen as the cone of the 'loudspeaker'. The sound is so good that a sound bar is unnecessary except for the most discerning audiophile. The picture is perfect, but the sound quality gives this TV the edge over the competition.

Needed a new TV so went for this based on recommendation from my partner. The sharpness and quality of the TV is second to none. Fabulous for watching films and football ;) The control takes a bit of practice but navigation is easy once you've worked it out.

I can’t fault the picture and sound on this TV but I am disappointed by the lack of UK streaming apps in the App Store. I frequently see adds for TVs with the android system bragging about the thousands of available apps but they haven’t even got BBC iPlayer. Apps not in the store can still be accessed via the built in “Sony select” app or via “YouView” but it’s fiddly and annoying. I sometimes wish I’d bought either the LG or Samsung equivalent.

Bought a month ago and still getting used to it. Good picture and sound quality, but finding it hard to navigate round and choose things - it is so different from what we had previously. Annoyed we have to watch all the adverts and that we cannot skip them in catch-up mode.

This was a step up from a 32inch LG TV . Wow the difference the quality of picture is brilliant, colours beautiful, the menu’s are easy to negotiate. Already has YouTube and prime video installed and Netflix so no messing downloading them . I already have Sony camera gear so the Tv just adds to the Sony line up . Definitely recommend.

Purchased in store after enquiring if any TVs were sold with a swivelling bases instead of a fixed base and came away with this and a stand which required self assembling. As brought up with Meccano, I managed this though it was not as easy as it was said to be. This TV was noticeably sharper than a much cheaper Sony set of similar size on display and there is no need for a sound bar. It would have been simple to set up the Smart side of it but we don’t use the Android system. I got into a dead end by typing in an old Router password by mistake. Hopefully it uses less electricity than our old Plasma TV though I was disappointed to note it is “G” rated, however, similar sized sets are the same. It is a bit slow to come on but we are happy with the product.

Easy set up. Great picture. Optical audio works seemlesly with my stereo. Works with freeview and amazingly when I plugged the sky dish into the sattelite input it immediately worked with freesat. The record function works well with the usb stick I plugged in. All in all a major upgrade for me from my previous 2006 lcd.

We updated from a previous Bravia and once we sorted the software problems are delighted. Sony should advice customers on first set-up to download the latest software as in our case it was 18 months out of date and therefore did not at first have all the functions / Apps we were advised were available. IRRITATING to have to call Sony to resolve on a brand new TV!

Bought this a month ago. The picture is tremendous either in 4k or 1080p. Need to fiddle with the settings to get the best picture per source but well worth doing. 4k from disk or streamed is stunning. Sports look fantastic. I use a soundbar so can't really comment on the sound, seemed good in set up. Only negative is android tv. The tv sometimes get's tied up and so shuts down and restarts. Pretty convinced this isn't the hardware and the software just sometimes resets when it gets confused. Probably happened twice in a month. I think this will be fixed in future by a software update (I have ensured it is on the most recent update). Wouldn't stop me buying or recommending this set. Treat yourself, you're worth it.

The smart features are fantastic, covers all the apps and load quickly. The screen is really good in terms of viewing from an angle. We have quite a wide room and can view the screen really well from all angles. Sounds defaults to Dolby 5.1 resulting in quiet voices and loud sound which is really annoying. But ready to switch to Dolby stereo and is OK. Something to note, the stand is really "flat" machine, the screen sits really close to the work surface you place it on, which means I can't place my sound bar in front of the TV. Remote control is great. Detailed and has all the functions needed. 5 year warranty as standard. LG's was only 2 years. Sony "put their money where their mouth is'. Impressed.

Great picture when watching HD UHD. Apps are easy to set up and easy to set up phillips remote to work sky Q box. Was expecting more from the speakers sound quality is OK but nothing to write home about. But overall really happy I went for this over a ambi light

Compared to my previous sony bravia the quality of image is amazing, so much detail. Sound is certainly adequate for myself watching films etc. Set up was straight forward.
