Have had this speaker for quite a while now and there is nothing it can't do. Quality for computer via its built-in DAC is excellent. I realise teh power consumption would quickly discharge a battery but a built-in battery would be teh icing on the cake.

Qualidade de audio um pouco abaixo do expectável (esperava que fosse superior à ZR7 e isso não se verifica, sendo que a ZR7 até tem mais funcionalidades, perdendo apenas pela ausencia de comando) Teoricamente, todas as funcionalidades necessárias estão lá, no entanto, sem quaisquer updates ou correções há cerca de 2 anos

Ho acquistato questa cassa sopratutto per la possibilità di utilizzarla via wifi. Grazie a Chromcast posso ascoltare la mia musica di Spotify, Amazon Music, o Tunein senza il "vincolo" del bluetooth. Inoltre, dopo aver acquistato la "sorella minore" a batteria "Sony - SRS-X77" posso ascoltare la musica contemporaneamente su entrambe le casse, e il tutto senza abbonamenti premium (vedi Sonos!). Il reparto audio poi è ottimo. La cassa è compatta ma molto performante. Il design è semplice ed elegante. Consigliatissima!!!

Nach dem Auspacken super Klang. Leider drückte ich den "Update"-Button als ich dazu aufgefordert wurde. Nach dem Update war die Firmware ruiniert und das Gerät unbrauchbar, da die falsche Firmware installiert worden war. Bei einem automatischen Updateprozess darf dies nicht vorkommen, zumal derartige Probleme seit 1 ½ Jahren bekannt sind. Ich hatte vorab davon in diversen Foren gelesen, wart aber davon ausgegangen, dass Sony dieses Problem inzwischen gelöst hat. Nun musste ich meine nagelneues Gerät zum Kundendienst schicken, damit der eine funktionierende Software aufspielt. Ich hoffe, das löst das Problem (auch für zukünftige Updates)

Ich habe die SRS-X88 jetzt ungefähr seit zwei Monaten zuhause. Und ich bin immer noch schwer beeindruckt, wie detailliert und rein die Musik aus diesem Lautsprecher kommt. Als Vergleich nenne ich noch eine Bose Soundlink 10 mein Eigen, welche in der Klangfarbe nicht im Ansatz an die X88 herankommt. In einem hinkt sie aber doch etwas hinterher. Der Bass könnte definitiv mehr Druck vertragen. Er ist zwar von der Stärke okay, aber eben nur okay. Im Gegensatz zu den Höhen und Mitten fehlt hier leider der Wow-Effekt. Aber davon abgesehen bin ich restlos begeistert und würde die Box nicht mehr missen wollen. Gerade Leuten, die nicht nur dröhnenden Bass brauchen, sondern Musik in ihrer schönsten Reinheit genießen wollen, kann ich die X88 nur wärmstens ans Herz legen. Ein Minuspunkt ist allerdings die App Music Center. Die wirkt lieblos und wie aus dem vergangenen Jahrzehnt. Und so toll Cromecast auch sein mag, streamt man wie ich Apple Music und Amazon Prime, ist Multiroom leider nicht möglich. Aber immerhin ist sie eine der wenigen auf dem Markt verfügbaren Lautsprecher mit Apple Airplay, das hervorragend funktioniert. Die Koppelung geht sekundenschnell und einwandfrei. Ich hoffe, dass hier irgendwann auch ein Update für Airplay 2 nachgeliefert wird, dann wäre Multiroom kein Problem mehr und ich würde zuhause allgemein von Bose auf Sond umrüsten.

The product looks great on paper but the firmware released in September 2016 and still offered immediatedly corrupts the speaker and renders its sound and function inoperable.

I have been using this for over a year. 1. The high frequencies are superb. 2. The bass is somewhat subdued for a powered speaker. 3. The build quality is unparalleled. 4. A portable power pack would be useful to make it totally independent. 5. A bass subwoofer output would be a great addition. Overall, am very happy.

This should be an excellent product and its' design and functions bear this out. But Sony have released a flawed firmware update (which the machine nags you to install) that renders it almost useless. The left speaker and all the touch controls no longer work. Six months on and Sony have not seen fit to either acknowledge the problem nor release a new update to remedy their error.

Das SRS X-88 hat einen guten Klang, in den Höhen und bei den Bässen. Das Design ist ansprechend. Die Tasten zur Bedienung liegen ob, statt vorne am Gerät und sind daher nur sichtbar, wenn man direkt vor dem Gerät steht. Mit der SongPal App ist es recht umständlich einzurichten und zu bedienen. Bei der App gibt es viel Verbesserungspotenzial. Leider hat Sony keinen direkten Zugang zu Internetradios. Immer muss man den Umweg über TuneIn nehmen, und dazu wird man da Werbung bespickt.

Acheté il y à 15 jours. Toujours aucune connexion WiFi, et les connexion Bluetooth entrecoupées, dés fois courtes et agaçantes, dés fois plus longues et encore plus agaçantes pour un appareil qui n'est pas au prix du bas de gamme.... J'avais préféré Sony à Bose (car les critiques de coupures était légions) Et bien pas de bol 60€ plus chère est les mêmes problèmes....

Das erste Gerät war leider nach dem ersten Firmwareupdate nicht mehr zugebrauchen.Nach ein paar Wochen versuchte ich es nochmal dann aber mit vollen erfolg.Die nutzungsmöglichkeiten sind enorm und nehmen noch zu.Bin sehr Begeistert.

This is a great sounding good looking powered speaker which I am mainly using to listen to high quality internet audio streams via an attached internet receiver. I also listen wirelessly to my music collection sitting on a networked hard drive. Setting up the srs-x88 using the bluetooth connection on my iPhone and the SongPal app was easy. The only thing to be aware of is not to be tempted to install a new firmware version. You are encouraged to check for firmware updates in different ways: not only is there a flyer in the box stressing the importance of updating the firmware, also the SongPal app as well as an illuminated indicator on the top of the speaker give constant reminders that new firmware is available for download. However, this should NOT be done until further notice, as the downloaded firmware update turns out to be incompatible with the srs-x88. I am not sure what new features the update is meant to bring, but I don't really mind since I am extremely pleased with the speaker running on the factory installed firmware. My five-star overall rating of this product ignores this firmware issue, which I am sure will be sorted out by Sony in the near future.

De X88 klingt prima gezien zijn formaat. De bas is niet 'gekleurd' en 'overheersend', het midden en hoog zijn in balans. Er is meer dan genoeg reserve aanwezig. Ook in een mono-opstelling klinkt het goed. De aanwezigheid van zowel Apple Airplay als Google Cast zijn een plus. Vooral de toevoeging van Google Cast biedt veel meer mogelijkheden om rechtstreeks vanuit een app te streamen. Google Cast biedt daarbij het grote voordeel dat de app op je telefoon of tablet niet constant aan hoef te blijven staan wat de batterijduur ten goede komt. Zelfs als de telefoon of tablet geheel uit wordt gezet blijft de X88 de stream afspelen; het volume kan dan met de afstandsbediening worden geregeld. Als nadeel kan worden gesteld dat de X88 niet het adres van de laatste stream opslaat. Na het opstarten uit de standby-mode moet telkens opnieuw de volledige stream-toewijzingprocedure worden doorlopen, wat enige tijd in beslag neemt.

Excellent audio quality as you would expect from Sony. The multi room function is slightly disappointing. Audio stops when grouping or ungrouping multiple units, and the it is not possible to select which unit is the 'master' in the group.

I have had this now for a couple of weeks now and the sound is very impressive and is getting better as it gets warm and more hours under it's belt, The only down side that i can find is that the air play and bluetooth volume is tied with the device connected which means when you turn up the volume using the remote it actually turn up the volume on the connected device only this is easily over come just use the USB or 3.5mm jack and the sound is much better and you have both volume controls, maybe on the next update Sony may be working on a fix for this.

As a speaker this x88 is great,sonically excellent and beautifully made.However even hard wired to the router the link light constantly flashes and the connection to AirPlay and Spotify connect is lost.Everything else has no problem keeping a connection,including my Sonos Play 5.Indeed there isn't a problem,but both a Sony x77 and x88 have found staying connected beyond them.Eventually I bought a Neet Wireless Receiver and stuck it in the 3.5mm jack of the x88,now no lost connection and problem solved.Not elegant but effective.The music this Sony is capable of is great,hi res to MP3 all sound wonderful,pity Sony made such a bad app and they are miles behind Sonos in all departments except style and sound.

De software die Sony bij deze producten verstrekt is zo slecht, dat het eigenlijk niet bruikbaar is. Ik heb verder nog 2x een SRS-X77 en een HT-ST9 soundbar. Songpal, de app die Sony voor multiroom bedoeld heeft, kan niet meerdere groepen opslaan, het maken van een groep in combinatie met de HT-ST9 soudbar lukt vrijwel nooit en Tunein Radio, de vrijwel enige methode om radio af te spelen, zegt steeds 'incompatible stream' bij ieder radio station zodra ik het wil casten naar een speaker of soudbar. Als afspelen dan wel eens lukt, zitten er vaak onderbrekingen van +/- 1 seconde in de audio terwijl het netwerk dan geheel stabiel is. Zowel via Wifi als bedraad, zowel lokaal als via het internet. Als multiroom systeem is dit volstrekt onbruikbaar. In maart zou er weer een nieuwe versie van Songpal komen. Ik houd mijn hart vast, want de laatste updates waren juist een verslechtering. Ik kan dit in de huidige staat echt niemand aanraden!

I bought this speaker just over 2 months ago, to enable me to stream music from my walkman. The richness of sound is brilliant. It is so easy to connect via Bluetooth & I am extremely pleased with my purchase. I cannot fault this product.

I bought this for Xmas & New Year as an alternative to stream music rather than use my PS 2. It was incredibly easy to set up and to connect to my home wifi. The sound is great for such a small unit. I have yet to try hi res, but may wait til prices drop. I will definitely buy another unit in the near future in order to go multi room.

I bought three about 3 weeks ago and I have had nothing but issues with them. First the firmware they came with didn't support all the features. The grouping feature is also really bad, it doesn't always work, it doesn't remember the settings and it only sometimes works for the apps, e.g. Spotify. Additionally the units rarely wake up on command by an app even in correct standby mode. To top it off one of them had to go back due to a fault with one of the speakers.
