Using this lens with a mirror less camera is just awesome. It's light small and has an image quality second to none. Used with the A6000 it's focus capabilities are fantastic, Using it with 36 mp gives an image quality which will amaze.

While everything about this lens is to be liked - there is one particular problem that is pretty annoying. There is loads of purple fringing in high contrast areas. To go for a 2.8 is way out of my means, the reviews that I had read before making this selection is that you lose 1 stop of light compared to f2.8 but everything else is comparable. Not saying regretting the decision but when you pay over a grand you expect the native lens to stand head and shoulders above similar 3rd party lenses

Ich wollte gerne ein Objektiv mit dem ich meine beiden Hunde fotografieren kann, und da kam für mich das Sony 70-200mm F4 in die engere Auswahl. Und ich bin absolut begeistert, die Fotos sind genau so wie ich es mir vorgestellt habe! Super Autofokus vor allem in Verbindung mit meiner A7 IV funktioniert einwandfrei. Ich liebe auch das Design mit der Schwarz-Grau-Optik. Für mich ist die Blende mit F4 absolut ausreichend!

Meine ersten Erfahrungen mit diesem Objektiv haben mich sehr positiv überrascht. Die Lichtstärke 4 ist wirklich ausreichend; ich kann selbst bei niedriger ISO-Zahl und Dämmerung wirklich gute Bilder mit 1/125 sec und Blende 22 machen. Natürlich trägt auch meine Sony Alpha 7 III R zum guten Ergebnis bei.

This is my first "expensive" lens, I had a Tamron 70/300 lens and I liked it - I thought the build quality was good and the results were fine. Then I got the SONY 70/200 and straight away it was in a different league. The build quality is unmatchable, if Rolle Royce made lenses, this would be it. I live on a bit of rock poking out into the Bristol Channel, we get some outstanding sunsets and sunrises, I've taken thousands of photos of these, people liked them. I took some with the SONY lens and shared those, everybody could see the difference, vivid oranges and reds, the orange reflects on clouds, the sun's reflection spreading across the water. I knew straight away I'd never use the Tamron again, I sold it a week later and now I'm hoping to upgrade to the f2.8 version of this lens.

Eccellente ottica! Usato con Sony A7RIIIA la qualità delle immagini è altissima sia per nitidezza che plasticità anche a tutta apertura e su tutte le focali. Qualità costruttiva di alta classe come si addice ad una ottica serie “G”. Autofocus molto rapido anche in considerazione che non è una ottica recentissima.

leichtes Reisetele mit Makrofähigkeit

Ein angenehm leichtes Reisetele mit guten optischen Eigenschaften. Die Makrofähigkeit ersetzt ein echtes Makro zwar nicht vollständig, ist aber oft ausreichend. Gar nicht nachvollziehen kann ich aber das Sony bei einem Objektiv dieser Preisklasse keinen Transportbeutel mehr beipackt. Die Qualität der Transportbeutel war bei Sony ja schon immer schlechter als bei Canon L´s. Der vollständige Verzicht darauf mag zwar den Gewinn bei Sony erhöhen erzeugt aber ein ungutes Gefühl. Schlussendlich steckt das Sony nun im Canon Beutel. Ebenfalls ist die Funktion des Schalters Full Time DMF nicht im Handbuch beschrieben. Google hilft hier zwar weiter, Perfektion geht anders.

Ich habe das Objektiv zum Abverkaufspreis erworben, was dann für mich angesichts der Alternativen ein realistischer Preis war. Man merkt dem Objektiv im Vergleich zu den aktuellen Produkten sein Alter an, moderner meint meist nochmals schärfer. Allerdings ist die Schärfe bei diesem Objektiv durchgehend gut, der AF prima und Handling wie Verarbeitung wirklich klasse. Nur die Schalter könnten etwas weniger leichtgängig sein, da muss man tatsächlich darauf achten.

E' un prodotto fantastico, molto leggero e ben costruito con ottimi materiali, autofocus velocissimo non sbaglia un colpo anche con il video, stabilizzatore eccellente ti permette di scattare ad 1/30 di secondo anche a mano libera, ha anche uno sfocato gradevole e un dettaglio dell'immagine fantastico. Anche se ha un'apertura f4 non è molto importante perchè come ho detto prima, ti permetta di scattare con tempi anche molto lenti grazie alla sua leggerezza ed allo stabilizzatore perfetto. Che dire un ottimo rapporto qualità prezzo. Prodotto super consigliato!

Hatte vorher das Sony 70-200 f2,8 GM I. Ein hervorragendes Objektiv. Für mich als Hobbyfotograf allerdings für eine häufige Nutzung zu schwer. Ich habe es verkauft und durch das Sony 70-200 f4 GII ersetzt. War eine kluge Entscheidung.

I bought this lens just a month ago, but i already falling love with. it was my dream since its came out many years ago, but i could'nt afford one until now. the lens itself not to heavy, not to big. easy to handle. the oss is great 1/10 by hand held and the image is still not blurry. The image quality is excellent. Focus is very quick, silent and accurate.

Bisher habe ich mir die großen Sony Tele nur bei Bedarf gemietet und konnte mich so mit meiner A7iii durch die Versionen testen. Auch wenn das 2.8 leichter und schneller ist, habe ich für meine Einsatzzwecke auch mit dem 2.8 meist auf 4,5 oder mehr abgeblendet und nur sehr selten die 2.8 genutzt. Daher ist meine Wahl auf das f4 gefallen, auch wegen dem Preisunterschied. Für Portraits, Car- und Streetphotography bestens geeignet! Bei schnellen Motiven braucht man dann doch oft mehr Licht oder nimmt das 2.8.

Ho preferito questa prima versione rispetto al nuovo f/4 GII Macro perché ha la zoomata interna, inoltre non ero interessato né alla funzione macro né alla possibilità di moltiplicarlo. Confidando nella proverbiale qualità Sony, pur sapendo che avrei pagato lo scotto di una QI leggermente inferiore rispetto al nuovo modello, nella realtà sono rimasto deluso perché la QI non è leggermente inferiore, lo è sensibilmente, praticamente le immagini alle varie focali e ai vari diaframmi hanno sempre una leggera ma fastidiosa velatura, cosa assai frustrante in quanto l'obiettivo viene usato su una fotocamera che ha forse il miglior sensore FF come QI che è il 61 Mpx della A7RIV A! Onestamente non so capacitarmi di questa, per me, modesta resa, penso che cambierò questo obiettivo con altro.

Ik heb deze lens twee weken in huis en heb er al een aantal landschap foto’s mee gemaakt. Werkt heel fijn en ligt goed in balans met mijn Sony 7 III. De foto’s zijn scherp, goed van kleur en mooi contrast. Ben er zeer tevreden mee met deze aankoop.

J’ai acheté l’article en avril dernier, entre temps je suis allé en Indonésie, fait ses prestation de mariage et le produit est top! A des difficultés en basse lumière (logique) mais mise à part cela, le rendu des couleurs, le piqué, la qualité de fabrication et son prix rendent cet objectif incontournable

Il est conseillé d’utiliser un parasoleil pour réduire la lumière parasite et obtenir la meilleure image possible.
Alignez la ligne rouge du parasoleil sur la ligne rouge de l’objectif (repère de parasoleil), puis insérez le parasoleil sur la monture d’objectif et tournez-le dans le sens horaire jusqu’à ce qu’il s’encliquette et le point rouge du parasoleil s’aligne sur la ligne rouge de l’objectif (repère de parasoleil).
Si vous utilisez un flash externe (vendu séparément),retirez le parasoleil pour éviter de bloquer la lumière du flash. Pour ranger le parasoleil, insérez-le à l’arrière de l’objectif.

Für meine Sony Alpha 7 RIIIa sollte nach dem hervorragenden 24 - 105 mm noch ein ein Zoomobjektiv für den Bereich 70-200 mm beschafft werden. Von Sony standen hier zwei Alternativen zur Verfügung, entweder das G 70-200 f 4.0 oder das G 70-200 f 2.8 II. Ich habe mich aus folgenden Gründen für das f 4.0 entschieden: - Gewicht, hier 840 gr vs 1.045 gr (jeweils ohne Stativvorrichtung), - Preis, hier 1.099 € vs 2.999 € lt. Sony Website, - Ausführungsqualität der gesamten Objektivkonstruktion, - das Typenschild auf dem Objektiv weist auch „Made in Japan“ aus, nicht „C…..“, „T……,“ „V…….“ etc, ggf bin ich hier etwas altmodisch gepolt 🙂. Bitte nicht falsch interpretieren. Bei einer größeren Marktkette gab es vor kurzem einen Mehrwertsteuernachlass, weiterhin noch den Sommer Cashback von Sony, da konnte ich nicht mehr widerstehen. Günstiger für ein Neuobjektivkauf geht es kaum. Für mich als Hobbyfotograf ist die f 4.0 Version absolut ausreichend. Selbst bei der durchgehenden Blende 4.0 bietet das Objektiv für mich eine ausreichende Schärfeleistung, die sich je nach Blendenvorwahl noch steigern lässt. Sicher setzt das f 2.8 noch einen Ticken drauf, aber meine Printgrößen hören bei 45 x 30 cm auf. Weiterhin nutze ich das Objektiv zumeist bei Tageslicht, will heißen der Mehrpreis für das f 2.8 rechnet sich für mich auf keinen Fall. Die Alpha 7 RIIIa erlaubt auch ein entsprechendes Croppen bei der Bildgestaltung (APSC Einstellung oder Klarbildzoom) oder bei der Entwicklung in der Bildbearbeitung. Insofern wird aus 200 dann 300 (APSC - Modus) oder 400 beim Klarbildzoom. Bei der Bildbearbeitung bietet die RIIIa mit ihren 42 Megapixel beim Croppen ausreichend Reserven. Wer es gerne über die Kamera steuert, empfehle ich nach mehreren Bilderserien den APSC Modus der Kamera, der meiner Meinung nach die besseren Ergebnisse gegenüber dem Klarbildzoom bringt. Bewegte Objekte muss ich noch testen, will heißen wie reagiert der Autofokus in den verschiedenen Einstellungen der Kamera. Ausreichend schnell ist der Fokus des Objektivs allemal. Kleines Update: Kurz nach meinem Kauf kam das neue f 4.0 incl. Makro und allgemeinen Verbesserungen auf den Markt - sicher eine überlegenswerte Alternative. Wer den Mehrpreis nicht scheut und gerne „Makrografiert“ sollte dieses Objektiv in die engere Wahl nehmen. Profis werden sicher das f 2.8 bevorzugen. Mir genügt das „Alte“ allemal - die Qualität der Ergebnisse, Konstruktion, Autofokus, Gewicht, Preis/Leistung überzeugen.

Premetto che attualmente ho fatto pochi scatti con questo nuovo obiettivo, per questione di tempo disponibile. Ma devo dire che si presenta davvero bene. Costruzione solida e di qualità. Just spent a few hours running this lens through its paces at a military families day with plenty of photo opportunities. Performed like a dream. Left the lens foot at home to lose weight. Internal focusing was a real boon. Good robust lens hood worked well in bright sunlight. Recommended.
