installing new os

i have windows home premium on my new machine and i want to install ultimate,will i lose drivers if i reformat and install new os?

    Hi randomfellow,

     

    If you format and clean install Windows Ultimate you will loose all drivers and pre-installed software. Drivers can be downloaded from the Support site but most pre-installed software cannot.

     

    The alternative is to carry out an 'anytime upgrade' or 'inplace upgrade' which will retain all existing drivers and software.

    thanks rich,i guess i'll have to download drivers from scratch then;i clicked on link you provided,it said it doesn't apply to windows 7 ultimate.

    just 1 more question: from what site can i always download up to date drivers?

    by the way,my model is f23afx.

    Hi randomfellow,

     

    I think that link may be misleading as, as far as I am aware, it is possible to use anytime upgrade from Home Premium to Ultimate.

    This would seem to be a USA model.
